WHAT TO WEAR TO PROM 2013

It's Prom Season and that means one thing: Dresses!  Shopping for the Perfect Prom Dress can be stressful.  I remember countless trips to many stores trying to find the right dress for my Junior Prom.  For my Senior Prom, I decided to make it myself.  That dress was my first big fashion
accomplishment and I was definitely the best dressed at my High School Prom.  Here are 3 Prom dresses and the perfect accessories and beauty looks to make for a rockin' Prom 2013!

LOOK 1: Black and White + Bright Yellow with Flapper Girl Edge
Kahri "Where I Belong" Dress available at www.kahri.com
Kahri "Late Night Tales" Clutch available at www.kahri.com and Black Pumps available at www.nastygal.com

GET THE BEAUTY LOOK:
To get the look use a light silver eyeshadow with gunmetal eyeshadow on the crease and outer edge of lower lash line to create a softer smokey eye look.  Plus lots of black mascara make the eyes pop.  Get the Look with Lorac Starry-Eyed Baked Eyeshadow in Evening Star and Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Beach, available at sephora.com. To get the hair look our Aveda stylist started by curling large sections of hair with a large 2" curling iron to give the hair some movement. Then the front section was gelled to the side of the face with bobby pins used to create soft finger waves for a Flapper girl look.  Then the rest of the hair was pulled back in a low messy side bun secured with lots of bobby pins and hairsprayed to keep everything in place.

LOOK 2: Leather + Metallic with a Pop of Rocker Chic Red
Kahri "Run Baby Run" Dress available at www.kahri.com.
Milly clutch and Brian Atwood pumps available at www.shopbop.com

GET THE BEAUTY LOOK:
To get the look chose a bold matte red lipliner and lipstick such as Bobbie Brown Lipliner in Sangria and Creme Matte Lipstick in Red Carpet.  On the eyes use a light shimmery taupe such as Stila eyeshadow in Wheat shimmer all over.  For a rocker eye use a black eyeliner such as Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Stingray to line around the entire eye including inside corner and waterline.  Then use a black liquid eyeliner such as Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid eyeliner to draw a cat eye at the corner connecting top and bottom lines.  Top it off with lots of Buxom Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black.  All makeup available at Sephora.com.  For the hair first divide the hair down the middle into two sections and create a reverse french braid close to the hairline on each side meeting together at the center back.  Each braid is then layered on top of each other and looped around to create a flat bun at center back then secure it with hairpins, lots of bobby pins, and hairspray.

LOOK 3: Sequins + Leather with Bold Pink Accents
Kahri "Why" Dress available at www.kahri.com

GET THE BEAUTY LOOK:
To get the makeup look start with a bright pink lip, such as NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Bright Pink.  Keep eyes twinkling with a metallic silver shadow, such as Bobbie Brown Metallic Eyeshadow in Silver, all over the eyelid and under the lower lash line as well.  Top off with dramatic black false eyelashes, such as Illamasquia False Eyelashes.  If false eyelashes are too tricky for you, just coat the lashes with several coats of black volume mascara.  All available at Sephora.com.  For hair get funky with a crown of mini buns.  For the hair look divide hair into several sections toward the hairline and twist each section and coil into a small bun and secure it with bobby pins.  Repeat that with each section and complete with a few coats of hairspray.  Or if you want to keep your hair down, follow the above steps and then apply with heat from a hairdryer for several minutes.  Wait for the hair to cool, then take out all the bobby pins out and brush smooth with a paddle brush for some retro waves.

Now I hope you have a great time at Prom and dance the night away!  Stay out of trouble!  Okay, you can get into a little trouble.  If you have a certain Prom Dress design in mind and want to stand out in a custom creation by Kahri, contact us at kahri@kahri.com.  We love helping our customers look hot on their big day!
